He said the attached properties include a newly constructed house (Rs 11.46 lakh) and a vehicle (Rs 5 lakh) belonging to drug smuggler Mohammad Naseer Bhatti, son of Nasar Din Bhatti, a resident of Madiyan Kamalkote in Uri.

“The investigation proved that the said movable and immovable properties were raised/used for illicit trafficking by the drug smuggler,” the spokesman said.

He said 1.17 kg of contraband brown sugar and Rs 25.39 lakh cash were recovered at the time of raid conducted at Kamalkote Uri from the drug smugglers — Mohammad Naseer Bhatti, son of Nasar Din Bhatti; Mohammad Rayaz Khanday, son of Mohammad Shareef; Mohamad Pazeer Khanday, son of Abdul Majid, and Mohammad Fayaz Khanday, son of Mohammad Sharief, all residents of Madiyan Kamalkote.

Meanwhile, police also said they have frozen the bank savings and seized a vehicle of a “notorious” drug peddler in Bandipora.

Police have frozen bank savings of Rs 3,97,604 and seized one Auto load-carrier (JK15B-4455), valued at about Rs 3,18,000, belonging to a drug peddler Irshad Ahmad Khan, son of Abdul Samad Khan, resident of Asham Hajin under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. During investigation, it came to fore that all these assets were illegally acquired through the sale of narcotic drugs, police said.
