Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani on Wednesday said Kashmir is witnessing no relief from prolonged and unscheduled power outages & ration shortage that has left normal life distraught.

He, according to the NC spokesperson, said this while addressing a number of party functionaries and workers from Ajas, Sumbal Sonawari at the party headquarters Nawa-e-Subha, Srinagar.

The visiting delegation apprised the Provincial President about various public issues and the ongoing party activities in their area. The sufferings of the people due to shortage of ration and prolonged power outages were particularly brought to the notice of the Provincial President by the visiting delegation.

Lamenting the administration on its dereliction of duty, Nasir said, “We have never faced such a situation before. Electricity tops the basic utility services which is the right of the people. Post Ramadhan the situation with regard to basic facilities including electricity is contrary to the tall claims of the administration. People continue to pay bills on time, but unscheduled power outages continue to throw normal life out of gear. In some areas, anguished people, including women and farmers are hitting the streets.”

Nasir said the situation with regard to electricity supply is especially bad in rural areas, which receive a few hours of daily supply in intervals that last for a few minutes. “While the power tariffs are shooting up, there is no improvement on the supply front. Sadly KPDCL has been reduced to a revenue-generating organization, paying little to no attention to improving its services,” the NC leader said.

“The persistent electricity outages and voltage fluctuations have also impacted patient care in hospitals, agricultural practices, and the hotel sector,” he added.

Among others, Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq, Central Zone President Ali Muhammad Dar, State Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar, Provincial Secretary Showkat Ahmed Mir, Senior leaders Peer Muhammad Hussain, Sardar JS Azad, Ghulam Nabi Bhat, Dr. Muhammad Syed Makhdoomi, Qaisar Jalali were also present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, Nasir Aslam Wani Sogami visited the residence of veteran trade union leader late Shri Sampat Prakash Kandu for condolences.

Nasir visited the Harwan residence of the veteran leader. Joined by the party’s local unit functionaries, Nasir Aslam Wani extended profound condolences & sympathies to the bereaved household and prayed for peace to the departed soul.

He also highlighted the stellar role played by Sampat Prakash ji towards the cause of employees and underprivileged classes. He also hailed the Late Sampat ji for his unflinching commitment towards secularism, and socialism.
