Srinagar, May 28: Three persons were killed and four others were injured after a vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident in Chowkibal area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Official sources told GNS that today at about 1:30 pm in Manshtar area of Chowkibal, a load carrier (JK02AF-2207) skidded off the road and fell into a deep nallah.

In the mishap, a minor boy identified as Parvez Ahmad Khowaja (23) son of Mohammad Yousuf Khowaja died on the spot while as Rayees Ahmad Sheikh (14) son of Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh of Dardpora and Ishfaq Khatana son of Abdul Rashid of Satboyen Dardpora succumbed later in the hospital, they said.

Four other persons travelling in the vehicle also suffered critical injuries, they said.

All the injured have been shifted to sub-district hospital Kupwara where from they have been referred to Srinagar hospital for specialized treatment, they said.

The critically injured persons have been identified as Altaf Ahmad Khowaja, Shabir Ahmad Khowaja, Javid Ahmad Khowaja and Mohd Aslam Khatana, they said.

They were travelling towards Behaks (temporary shelter during summer in forests) at Bungus Valley in the frontier district when the mishap occurred, they said.

A police officer while confirming the incident told GNS that police has registered a case and started further investigations in this regard.
