Islamia College holds Eye Screening Camp

Srinagar: Islamia College Cultural Committee in collaboration with ASGEye Hospital, Srinagar held an Eye Screening Camp for students and staff.

Principal of the College, Professor (Dr.) Khursheed Ahmad Khan formally inaugurated the camp and expressed his satisfaction with making this camp possible in the college. He expressed that such type of camp is an endeavor to bring awareness about eye health among students & staff.

Principal in his speech advised that regular eye examinations are important because having your vision corrected can improve the quality of day-to-day life. “The objective of this camp was to spread awareness of eye disorders, their early detection, and detect refractive errors and eye ailments among students. Eye screening camps are community-orientated to tackle the backlog of cataract blindness under the National Programme for the Control of Blindness,” he added.

Prof. Uheedah Shah, coordinator of the camphad forwarded the idea of having interaction with an eye specialist. She expressed that the camp shall screen students & staff for refractive error problems & other major causes of vision impairment. “The camp shall provide treatment for minor ailments or to refer base hospital for further management,” she added.

Prof Uheedh expresses her thanks to Dr Manzoor Ul Mehdi, Director, ASG, Srinagar, Ms. Bhagvati Devi, Head, ASG Group of Hospitals, Dr. Abhi Langer, Central Manager, ASG Group of Hospitals, Mr. Rameez, Manager, ASG, Srinagar, Mr Swapul Jaswal, media coordinator, ASG Srinagar for conducting eye camp at ICSC.

Prof. Uheedah Shah also thanked ASG Eye Hospital & its associated medical team consisting of doctors, paramedical ophthalmic assistants, optometrists, and camp organizers.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Manzoor Ul Mehdi, Director, ASG, Srinagar in his presentation gave advice and tips to students on how to manage eye pain and other symptoms. He advised the participants about how to administer medication to the eyes.

While sharing his experience he expressed that eyesight does not improve as you get older. Dr. Manzoor advised students to take proper care of their eye health and preserve their vision long-term.

Ms. Bhagvati Devi, Head, ASG Group of Hospital extended a vote of thanks to the college administration for giving a chance to ASG, Eye Care Hospital, Qamarwari, Srinagar for organizing Eye Care Camp at ICSC.
