SRINAGAR, MAY 25: Minister for Food Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS & CA), Mohammad Ashraf Mir today conducted a city tour during which he reviewed the progress of certain ongoing projects and also took first-hand information about the various issues faced by people in different areas.

On his visit to City outskirt, Panthachowk, Mir reviewed the progress of ongoing Tangnar Water Supply Scheme which was taken up for execution with an aim to add 10 MGD (million gallons per day) of potable water supply to various areas facing water shortage.

He was informed that this prestigious project is in its final phase as the major work stands completed, however, the work on the chlorination plant is to be done.

Directing the concerned officials to expedite the work on this project, Mir said that this project is of greater importance as it will be supplying water to four surrounding constituencies and will cater to the thousands of households. He said that this project is the long pending demand from the people which needs to be completed at an earliest.

While visiting shrine of Syed Meerak Shah Sahib Kashani (R.A), the Minister directed the officials to make all the 39 installed lightings in vicinity functional immediately and also directed them to beautify the area. On the demands of the people there, the Minister directed the LAWDA officials to carry out all the necessary works on the drainage system. He also announced that the ground of Meerak Shah School, which is adjacent to the shrine, will be developed for its students.

On his visit to Brein, Shalimar and other adjoining areas, the Minister took the first-hand information from the residents about the various facilities being provided by the government.

The residents of Pahloo in upper Brein informed the minister that they are facing shortage of water in the area from the long time. Mir directed the concerned officers to solve their issues within 3 days and asked them to ensure the uninterrupted supply of water. He said that all the financial assistance will be provided in this regard but it should be assured that no water supply is hampered. The residents also suggested that an additional water pump can also be of great help in future.

After listening to various issues faced by the residents of Dodh Mohalla, Shalimar, the Minister announced that macadamization of roads that are in dilapidated conditions will be done on priority basis and also assured that an additional transformer will be installed in the area to resolve the electricity related problems. He assured the residents that all their genuine issues will be solved.

Mir was accompanied by VC LAWDA, Abdul Hafeez Shah, ADC Srinagar, officers from PDD, PHE and other concerned departments.
