According to the press release issued by the JKPCC, Former J&K Pradesh Congress Committee President Ghulam Ahmad Mir while addressing booth-level delegates at Nagam in Kokernag received feedback with regard to local developmental and social issues confronting people at the grassroots level. Mir was told that people were suffering due to a lack of development and in absence of the appropriate supply of electricity and drinking water in Nagam and elsewhere in the Kokernag area of south Kashmir.

Mir also received feedback with regard to the measures that are being taken to strengthen the party, he laid emphasis on ensuring strengthening the Party at the booth level despite challenges and conspiracies being hatched against it (Congress) by the BJP and its stooges, at the same time, Mir felt confident that the Party (Congress) is fully capable to overcome the challenges and continue to serve people to these best of its ability.

Referring to the political scenario in J&K, Mir told the delegates that people not only in J&K but in the entire country know that J&K was the victim of BJP’s deceitful and misleading politics which has abandoned it(J&K) of its democratic rights, besides down -grading the state into two UTS. “It was for the first time in the history of India that a full-fledged state was downgraded into two UTs whilst the UTs consisting of two-three districts in the country were made full-fledged States to ensure Legislature and elected Govt of their own,” Mir added.

Former JKPCC President slammed Centre Govt for making false and tall claims with regard to the resolution of people issues, employment generation, and development which is nowhere to be seen, though there has been a series of initiatives such as back B2V, frequent visits of Central Ministers and countless announcements, but what the people of J&K Govt, Mir questioned and told the BJP Govt that the day is not far when people of entire J&K would respond to its wrong policies heavily.

The former JKPCC President reiterated the Congress Party’s demand for holding assembly elections in J&K following Statehood with all constitutional guarantees.
