RAJOURI: Apni Party Vice President, and Former Cabinet Minister, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali has demanded implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission – a flagship scheme of Govt of India in District Rajouri.
Addressing a public meeting in village Kotechalwal in the District, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali said that the authorities concerned who have been entrusted with the task to implement the Jal Jeevan Mission in Rajouri have failed to do anything for the execution of the scheme on the ground.
He said that the Govt of India has pressed for the implementation of its flagship scheme in a time-bound manner but the authority’s concern seems unconcerned since the work is hardly being implemented.
“The rural and hilly of the district have been facing acute shortage of drinking water despite having resources but the portable water supply has not been provided to the people in every household and villages in the remote areas are worst affected due to the non-implementation of the scheme,” he said insisted on the authorities to seriously look into the issue and redress the problems faced by the people.
He further reminded that the scheme is time-bound and if it is not implemented on the ground, the people in villages will be left without getting the benefit of the Jal Jeevan Mission.
On the basis of the complaints from the villagers in Kotechalwal, and other adjoining villages, he appealed to the Lt Governor to personally look into the issue. “The LG administration should ensure speedy implementation of the said scheme on the ground on a priority basis.”
He further referred to the developmental works and pointed out the shortcomings of PMGSY in that the roads are poorly maintained, and many roads are still incomplete due to the slow pace of work.
He said that the schools in Rajouri have improper infrastructure and a shortage of teaching staff which should be fulfilled as per the national ratio of student-teachers.
He also expressed concern over the health departments for the inability to provide adequate staff and equipment in the PHCS in Kotechalwal, Nala, and Panglar villages.
“The medical facilities are not proper in the above-said villages and the people have to cover long distances to get better treatment. During this time, people often lose their life whenever they are referred to the district level hospital,” he said and demanded that medical treatment should be improved at the village level with the deployment of doctors and paramedical staff.
He demanded that the health department should deploy adequate staff in PHCs at the village level and ensure the people get better treatment and free-of-cost medicines as well.
