SRINAGAR: Secretary Tourism, Sarmad Hafeez, today held a meeting with Pahalgam Hoteliers Club to discuss modalities and arrangements for making Pahalgam vibrant throughout the winter season so that Pahalgam emerges as one of the finest winter destinations in Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting had a deliberate discussion on several issues and strategies as well needed to be planned and implemented for boosting tourism in the picturesque abode of Pahalgam with a specific focus on winters.

The department of Tourism in collaboration with the Pahalgam Hoteliers Club is initiating several innovative steps in this direction like arranging musical evenings and month-long festivities starting from December 20th, 2022. The whole Pahalgam market would be illuminated magnificently during these days so as to make give a phenomenal outlook to this heaven on earth during the winters.

It was informed in the meeting that a winter festival will also be held in the month of December and January to promote Pahalgam vigorously as one of the most favorite and sought winter destinations.

The meeting also discussed other issues like signages and facades at Pahalgam market besides making the clubhouse functional at Pahalgam Golf Course.

The Pahalgam Hoteliers Club assured the administration of their full cooperation in making Pahalgam an all-weather destination.

Moreover, various other activities are in offing in Pahalgam which inter alia included a nature walk, bird walk, and heritage village walk.

Recently, the department of Tourism organized some wonderful events at Pahalgam, the notable being the Fly Fishing Competition (Angling Competition) in September 2022 and Bird Festival in October 2022 with the participation of renowned birders from across the country including members from Sanctuary Nature Foundation, Mumbai and Bombay Natural History Society.
