Srinagar: In order to commemorate the Police Martyrs, Police in Ganderbal inaugurated the “Martyrs Memorial Police Premier League” at Qamaria Sports Stadium Ganderbal.
The theme of the tournament is to involve the youth of the area in sports activities and provide them with a platform to showcase their abilities. Cricket teams from across the District are participating in the tournament with utmost passion. There was an overwhelming response to the invitation and more than 100 teams of the district desired to participate, however, 16 teams were short-listed through a lucky draw.
SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar, on the occasion of the inaugural match at Qamaria Stadium, said that this tournament is being played in memory of our fallen Heroes who have laid down their lives to maintain peace & stability in the region. He also said that Police is committed to uplifting the youth by providing them with all possible support to excel in sports.
On the occasion, CO 24RR Vijay Reddy, ASP Ganderbal, DySP Hqrs Ganderbal, and Social Activist & Cricketer Sayem Mustafa were also present.
