Sports play an important role in character building of an individual: Advisor Bhatnagar

JAMMU: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, today maintained that Sports inculcates discipline and dedication among the players and plays an important role in character building of an individual.

The Advisor made these comments during the Valedictory ceremony of KC Sportathon 2022 at KC Public School here.

Addressing the large gathering of school children, players, and other personalities, Advisor Bhatnagar remarked that Jammu and Kashmir has a tremendous sports talent and the government is making remarkable strides to tap that potential of youth here and make them capable of participating in National and International competitions.

The Advisor highlighted that in the last three years, the J&K Administration under the able leadership of Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha had revamped the sports infrastructure here, and the start of art sports facilities are being established in every nook and corner of the UT. He added that the government has given top priority to sports here and in that direction, the infrastructure of international standards is being developed here to nurture the sports talent of youth here.

Advisor Bhatnagar on the occasion also took a round of KC Sports club and inspected the facilities available there. He appreciated the management of KC Sports club for making this club a hub for learning various sports games and other co-curricular activities.

Later, the Advisor distributed trophies and prizes among the winning students of different categories. He also interacted with them and encouraged them to participate in games with much commitment and dedication as sports help in the character building of an individual and keeps one fit.

During the week-long mega event, different sports events were held in different categories.

In the category of Soft Tennis (Boys) Soham Bhat of (KCPS) bagged the first position by winning the Gold medal, Shulin Koul of (JMPS) won the second position and received a Silver medal and the third position was shared by Hardeep Singh of (KCPS) and Madhavendra Singh of (DPS) and both won Bronze medals.

Similarly, in the Soft Tennis Girls Category Sidhani Singh of (DPS) Bagged the first position and got a Gold medal, and Shreemai Bhat and Harshita Jalali of (KCPS) won the second and third positions by winning Silver and Bronze medals respectively.

In Cricket, KC Public School emerged as the winner and KC International School got the runner-up trophy.

In the swimming competition, KC Public School secured the first position, Jodhamal Public School bagged the second position and Heritage Public School won the third position.

During the valedictory function, Advisor Bhatnagar also presented a Certificate of Scholarship to Vanshika Gosain of grade 6th of the institute for her selection to the National coaching camp being organized by the Swimming Federation of India on the basis of her exceptional performance at Khelo India Junior women’s swimming series, held at New Delhi recently.

Among others, the valedictory session of Sportathon was attended by the Chairman of KC Educational Society, Raju Chowdhary; Managing Director, Arti Chowdhary, Vice-Chairman, Arjun Chowdhary, Principal of the school, Amarendra Kumar Mishra, a large number of students and other players.
