Protesters said that hundreds of households in Wagoora are without water facility and thereby causing immense inconvenience to the locals here.

A local, Nissar Ahmad told ‘Kashmir Images’ that PHE department has installed water pipes way back in 1970s which have become defunct now.

He said that under Water Supply Scheme Tangnar, the new pipeline for Wagoora village has been sanctioned but officials are not starting the work. “Even the tender for new pipeline has been allotted, but PHE department is yet to install pipes here,” said Nissar.

A group of women, who were carrying empty buckets as a mark of protest said that they are forced to collect water from far-flung areas. “We are compelled to walk miles for fetching water,” they complained.

Executive Engineer, PHE Chadoora, GR Laharwal admitted that hundreds of households in Wagoora are without water supply.

However, he held rapid growth in population as responsible for the drinking water crisis in the area.

About non-implementation of Water Supply Scheme Tangnar, Laharwal said, “We will start working on the scheme once we get the pipe material.”
