Widespread insecurity, identity crises, unemployment confronts youth: YNC
FacebookTwitterWhatsapp

Srinagar: Youth National Conference on Thursday said that Kashmiri youth are increasingly becoming restless due to the wanton discrimination meted out to them by the incumbent administration.

This, according to the NC spokesperson, stated by the Provincial President YNC, Kashmir Salman Ali Sagar, while addressing a one-day convention of YNC’s Provincial, Zone, and District functionaries here at Nawa-e-Subha, Srinagar.

On the occasion, a resolution, denouncing the unconstitutional assault on J&K on Aug 5, 2019, was unanimously passed.

Prominent among those who were present on the occasion include YNC Provincial Committee members Abid Wani, Irfan Ahmed Zehgeer, Salman Mattoo, Zahid Mughal, Sheikh Ovase, South Zone President Peerzada Feroze, North Zone President Sameer Iqbal Bhat, Central Zone President Mushtaq Mir and YNC District Presidents.

Addressing the youth functionaries, Salman Sagar said that the vices of insecurity, unemployment, absence of administrative support, and an enabling environment are not allowing our promising youth to perform. “Confronted with the widespread insecurity, identity crises, and unemployment for half a decade now, our youth have become vulnerable to a plethora of psychological problems, while many have taken to drug addiction and substance abuse,” he said.

He further added, “Personality crisis induced by the August 05 decisions and resultant acute challenges of survival have turned them into the sheer despondent and alienated beings. There is no end to the brewing alienation among our youth. Everyday job scams, recruitment irregularities, outsourcing of jobs and contracts, sluggish recruitment process and little to no support for entrepreneurship development is further deepening their woes.”

The functionaries, who spoke on the occasion, strongly protested against the Aug 05, 2019 decisions. They said the youth whom they talk to recount mistreatment, bias, and administrative apathy being meted out to them in every office.
