Years of hard work in J&K stand obliterated: Sagar

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Tuesday said that the continuation of bureaucratic rule in J&K will be detrimental to its development and youth empowerment initiatives saying that there are enough lessons for New Delhi to draw from the region’s jinxed political history.

Party General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar said this while addressing functionaries here at the party headquarters Nawa-e-Subha, Srinagar.

He observed that there is a pressing need for a democratically elected government in J&K that could make doctored changes in the dealings of administration more humane and more attuned to the political and developmental aspirations of the people.

“Having an unrelated and undemocratic setup run the show from the air-conditioned echelons of New Delhi, Srinagar, and Jammu will only increase the risk element in the region. I hope the GOI will come out better after making much-needed course corrections and stop looking at J&K through the prism of security only,” he said.

People are keen to find a way out from the indefinite problems, Sagar said adding, “There is a widespread discomfiture in people due to their widening gap with the government. People are feeling bogged down by the ills of Unemployment, development deficit, insecurity and administrative inertia all at the same time. No respite is coming from any government quarters. Having a democratic setup restored would remedy people’s miseries and provide administrative comfort to them.”
