J&K logs 685 new COVID-19 cases, one more death

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 685 fresh Covid cases on Thursday that took the cumulative infection tally to 4,62,633, while one more fatality pushed the death toll to 4,766, officials said.

Of the new cases, 423 were reported from Kashmir and 262 from the Jammu division, they said, adding the latest fatality was reported from the Valley.

Providing district-wise breakup for today’s positive cases, officials informed that Srinagar district reported 212 cases, Jammu reported 147 cases,  Baramulla reported 96 cases, Budgam reported 52 cases, Kupwara reported 22 cases, Udhampur reported 21 cases, Kishtwar reported 18 cases, Rajouri and Bandipora reported 17 cases each, Doda reported 14 cases, Poonch  reported 13 cases, Ramban reported 12 cases, Anantnag and Samba reported 10 cases each, Kathua reported nine cases, Kulgam  and Ganderbal reported six cases each, Pulwama reported two cases, and Reasi reported one case. Shopian reported no fresh case today, they said.

Currently there are 4,316 active cases in Jammu and Kashmir – 2,362 in Kashmir division and 1954 in Jammu division, officials said.

So far, 4,53,551 people have recovered from the disease, they said. This also includes 443 patients — 231 from Jammu division and 212 from Kashmir — who were discharged from various hospitals in the last 24 hours after their recuperation.

So far the viral infection has claimed 2,428 lives in Kashmir division while 2,338 persons have succumbed to the disease in Jammu division.
