Jammu: A delegation of Aspirants of NEET PG from J&K UT met the JKPCC Chief G A Mir along with working President Raman Bhalla, Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, General Secretaries Yogesh Sawhney and Manmohan Singh today and voiced their concerns about the pooling of JK UT PG seats in All India quota this year, this reducing the seats from 522 to 172 for the domiciles of Jammu and Kashmir.

The candidates explained that by pooling the JK PG seats, there shall be a loss of 350 seats out of available 522 seats to J&K candidates exclusively now thus local candidates would be at loss.

They said that with the starting of MBBS courses in five new medical colleges in J&K, the no of MBBS graduates have increased by at least three times thus necessitating more PG seats but no PG seats have been allotted to these GM Colleges, so far.

They further said that in other states, there are conditions of 4 to 6 years of bondage, so the J&K students selected outside would have to serve there for the bondage period causing loss to Jammu and Kashmir while there is no condition of bondage in J&K for the outside candidates selected here thus not contributing to the specialist strength of JKUT.

Opposing pooling of PG seats in all India quota, for the time being, they sought deferment of the decision and urged for highlighting their problem as well as loss to Jammu and Kashmir.

The PCC leadership appreciated their concerns and urged the government to reconsider the decision in the larger interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir as well as the PG aspirants of J&K, said JKPCC Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma in an official handout here today.
