SRINAGAR: Two men lost their lives in separate road accidents in Pulwama and Bandipora districts on Friday, police said.
In Pulwama, a 65-year-old man was allegedly hit by an unidentified truck in the Wuyan Khrew area of Pampore. The victim, identified as Mushtaq Ahmed Bhat, son of Suna Ullah of Wuyan Khrew, was initially taken to Sub-District Hospital Pampore and later referred to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh (SMHS) Hospital, Srinagar, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances of the accident and trace the vehicle involved.
In a separate incident, a 32-year-old man died after being hit by an auto in the Dachigam area near District Police Lines (DPL) Bandipora. The deceased was identified as Irfan Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Jabbar Bhat, a resident of Dachigam.
He was shifted to District Hospital Bandipora, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Police said the auto driver has been arrested and further investigation is underway. (KNT)
