Prof Mattoo reviews Mela Kheer Bhawani arrangements

 GANDERBAL, MAY 05: Advisor to Chief Minister, Prof. Amitabh Mattoo, today visited the historic Kheer Bhawani shrine here to oversee the arrangements being put in place for the smooth conduct of the annual Mela.

He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Dr. Piyush Singla and District officers from various departments.

During the visit, Prof. Mattoo took stock of construction of Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) and directed the concerned to ensure the completion of the STP by the end of this month. He said that the STP is pivotal for maintaining fragile ecological set up of the area.

Reviewing the accommodation facilities for devotees, the Advisor asked the Executive Engineer R&B for construction of for pre-fabricated rooms. He also asked for the provision of lavatory blocks beside prayer hall.

While directing the officers to ensure that the devotees coming to pay their obeisance are provided with the requisite facilities, the Advisor said that a fool-proof mechanism should be put in place to ensure smooth conduct of the Mela.

Prof. Mattoo also stressed upon the officers to work with missionary spirit and coordination so that all possible facilities are made available to the devotees. He directed the concerned authorities to ensure cleanliness in and around the shrine.
