HAS in collab with WPH releases Farhat Iqbal’s poetry collection “Lost Metaphor”

Srinagar: Human Aid Society (HAS) in collaboration with Walur Publication House (WPH) J&K organized an impressive literary function at Tagore Hall Srinagar in which debut poetry collection ‘Lost Metaphors’ of young poetess Farhat Iqbal from Muqam Puthkha  village Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district was released on Saturday. 

The poetry book was released by chief guest retired Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Justice Bashir Kirmani who was flanked by former State Chief Information Commissioner G R Sofi, former Commissioner Secretary to the Government, Farooq Ahmad Shah and Nasir Mirza, ex-professor, Media Education and Research Centre (MERC), University of Kashmir besides others were present on the occasion.

Published by Walur Publication House J&K  Anathnag, ‘Lost Metaphors’ has been compiled in the English language. The book is a collection of spiritual poetry, reflecting poetess’s inner feelings and ideas in a way that weaves together the mysterious and routine aspects of life.

Farhat Iqbal after completing her Master’s in Microbiology from University of Kashmir got appointed in the working Floriculture department.

Farhat while talking to Kashmir Images said that her first book Lost Metaphors is based on spiritual poetry which was impossible to be compiled had her parents especially her mother not supported her right from the outset.

“Actually my book which is compiled in English is based on mystic poetry; Lost Metaphor is not ordinary nor does extraordinary compilation, this book reflects both mysterious and routine aspects of life. Basically I have jotted down my inner feelings and observations in poetry that soothes the soul as the book reflects mysterious aspects of everyone’s life,” Iqbal added.

She said everyone wholeheartedly supported her in compiling the book and that she wants the same encouragement and affection from people so that her journey reaches the next level.

‘Lost Metaphors’ was reviewed by Dr. Maroof Ahmad Shah, Mushtaque Basheer Barq and Nasir Mirza who appreciated the valuable effort of the poetess at this young age and pinpointed shortcomings also.

Addressing the function, Justice Bashir Kirmani hailed the writing skills of the poetess and the way she has touched different aspects of mysticism, philosophy and realism but he urged upon the young poets and authors to switch over to mother tongue Kashmir language  which can be the best and richest way of expression.

Students and a young entrepreneur were felicitated for their performance in their respective fields. 

Chairman Human Aid Society, Bashir Ahmad Mir, said that his organisation has always been at the forefront to provide a platform to the youngsters for showcasing their talent. “I congratulate Farhat Iqbal for the achievement and wish her more success in future,” Mir said.

Many renowned personalities including Editor Uqaab Manzoor Anjum, Patron renowned broadcaster Maqsood Ahmad, HAS Patron Karamat Qayoom, TV news Anchor Sanam Aijaz, former DC and Director Agriculture Peerzada Mushtaq, former BDO G M Sofi, representatives social organizations and many journalists, writers, Ex- SE ERA Shabir Ahmad, Secretary MC Sriangar Chowdray Mudasir Ahmad and other members senior members and volunteers of Human Aid Society participated in the event.  

Renowned broadcaster and anchor Shaherbeen program Ishfaq Lone conducted the proceedings of the entire function in an impressive manner.
