Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir has recorded 26 new positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the last 24 hours even one more virus-related death was reported, officials said Sunday.

They said 16 of the fresh cases were recorded in Kashmir and 10 from Jammu division, taking the total number of positive cases detected so far in Jammu and Kashmir to 4,53,448, while the fresh Covid death was reported from Jammu division.

They also informed that 35 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 18 from Jammu division and 17 from Kashmir in the last 24 hours.

No new case of mucormycosis (black fungus) was reported today, they said.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 7,410 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of doses administered so far across J&K to 2,16,95,355.

According to the bulletin, out of 4,53,448 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far, currently there are 242 active positive cases in the UT including 144 in Kashmir and 98 in Jammu division, while 4,48,456 persons have recovered and 4,750 have died – 2,423 in Kashmir and 2,327 in Jammu division.

Giving district-wise breakup for positive cases reported today, the bulletin informed that Srinagar reported five cases, Kupwara reported eight cases, Budgam reported two cases, and Pulwama reported one case, even as no fresh cases were reported in Baramulla, Kulgam, Anantnag, Bandipora, Ganderbal and Shopian districts today.

Similarly, Jammu reported seven cases and Doda reported three cases while as Poonch, Kathua, Samba, Rajouri, Reasi, Ramban, Kishtwar and Udhampur districts reported no fresh cases today.

Meanwhile  India logged 3,116 new coronavirus infections, the lowest in 676 days, taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 4,29,90,991, while the active cases dipped to 38,069, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.

The death toll climbed to 5,15,850 with 47 fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.09 percent of the total infections while the national COVID-19 recovery rate further improved to 98.71 percent, the ministry said.

A reduction of 2,490 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded as 0.41 percent while the weekly positivity rate was 0.50 percent, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,24,37,072, while the case fatality rate was recorded as 1.20 percent.

The cumulative doses administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive has exceeded 180.13 crore.
