The injured militant has been identified as Abrar Hassan, son of Ghulam Hassain Gojri, resident of Azad Gunj Baramulla, the officer said.

Abrar was injured in a brief shootout in Langate and was later nabbed by the security forces while his accomplice managed to flee from the spot, the officer said adding a manhunt has been launched to nab the latter.

As per the officer, Abrar was a stone-pelter earlier for which two FIRs have been registered against him. Later on, he started working as an OGW, the officer said.

Meanwhile, in a separate operation, police arrested three militant associates of LeT outfit in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

A police spokesman said that Ishfaq Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Yaseen Dar, resident of Gadapora Shopian; Nadeem Rafiq Rather, son of Rafiq Ahmad Rather, resident of Killbal Shopian, and Rouf Mushtaq Najar, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Najar, resident of Wangam, were apprehended at a checkpoint by a joint party of police and 44RR at Khudpora orchards Friday evening.

“During naka checking, movement of three suspects was noticed who were challenged to stop. Instead of stopping, they started fleeing away from the spot but were chased and arrested tactfully by the joint party,” police said.

“Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including one pistol, one pistol Magazine, eight pistol rounds, one hand-grenade, one AK magazine, 20 AK live rounds were recovered from their possession,” spokesman added.

He said a case (FIR no. 19/2022) under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Shopian and further investigation into the matter is in progress.
