J&K logs 33 COVID-19 cases, one more death

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Friday recorded 33 fresh COVID-19 cases that took its tally to 4,53,167, while one more fatality pushed the death toll to 4,749, officials said.

Out of the fresh cases, 18 were from the Kashmir division and 15 from the Jammu division of the union territory, they said, adding that the fresh virus-related death was also reported from Jammu region.

Jammu district recorded the highest number of fresh cases at 12, followed by nine in Srinagar district. Twelve of the 20 districts in Jammu and Kashmir did not report any fresh cases.

Providing district-wise breakup for positive cases reported today, the officials said that Srinagar reported nine cases, Baramulla reported four cases, Pulwama and Kupwara reported two cases each, and Bandipora reported one case while as Budgam, Anantnag, Ganderbal, Kulgam and Shopian reported no fresh cases today.

Similarly, Jammu reported 12 cases, Doda reported two cases, Kishtwar reported one case while as Udhampur, Rajouri, Kathua, Samba, Poonch, Ramban and Reasi districts reported no fresh cases today.

Moreover, 83 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals including 60 from Jammu division and 23 from Kashmir, they said.

There are 51 mucormycosis (black fungus) cases in Jammu and Kashmir. No fresh case has been reported since last evening, they said.

On vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 15,629 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered so far across J&K to 2,15,64,224.

According to the bulletin, out of 4,53,167 positive cases recorded cumulatively so far in J&K, currently there are 412 active positive  cases in the UT including 218 in Jammu division and 194 in Kashmir, while as 4,48,006 persons have recovered and 4,749 have died – 2,423 in Kashmir and 2,326 in Jammu division.
