It also reveals that 127 villages and 48 Panchayats in Baramulla have been provided Functional tap water connections.

Similarly, in the border district of Kupwara, 28,022 households have been provided functional tap water connections since the launch of the scheme.

As per the data of JJM, more than half of the population has been provided Functional tap water connections. Out of 158501 households in the district, 59156 were covered before the scheme and after the launch of the scheme 17.68% of households have been provided functional tap water connections.

Despite challenging weather vagaries in the Kupwara district, the district is progressing towards the realization of the dream of Prime Minister to provide Har Ghar Nal Say Jal. The district has so far provided Functional Household Tap connections in 34 villages and 18 Panchayats.

Mission Director, JJM, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah said that we are ramping up efforts to cover 100% rural households with functional tap water connections under JJM by August 2022.

According to the data, J&K has provided 4.62 lakh tap water connections in two years. In the first phase of the roadmap devised by the Mission Directorate, JJM, Srinagar and Ganderbal districts which includes 11 Blocks, 383 Panchayat and 925 Villages were covered with 100% piped water tap connections.

The ambitious flagship programme Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) was launched on August 15, 2019. However, the UT of J&K has set a target to cover all the 20 districts of UT by September 2022.

Mission Director JJM, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah is monitoring the implementation on daily basis and has toured many areas of UT to accelerate the works and realize the piped water dream of the rural population of J&K before the target date as set by Lieutenant Governor of J&K Manoj Sinha.

Pertinent to mention, Mission Directorate JJM of J&K has already achieved the target of providing tap water to all 22,422 schools and 23,926 Anganwadi centers ahead of time.
