Sheeri: Nazish Ali from Sheeri, a specially-abled student of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Baramulla secured distinction in 12th class examinations, the results of which were declared by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) on Tuesday.

Visually impaired Nazish defied all odds to shine in her previous exams but this year she couldn’t get the scribe, however, JKBOSE gave special marks relaxation to students falling in the category Children with Special Need (CWSN).

“I am a daughter with a difference; I had told my father that I will prove it while traveling with him to Amritsar Punjab for my visual impairment treatment. After the pandemic hit the world and educational institutions were closed, normal students started online learning, however students like me couldn’t do so,” said Nazish who scored 473 marks in 12th class.

The parents of Nazish are happy and proud that their daughter has bagged distinction. “We were expecting Nazish to score good marks but she surprised us with distinction,” said her father Ali Mohmmad, a government school teacher.

“I am highly thankful to Almighty Allah, my parents, and teachers for their love and support. My message to my fellow students, especially physically challenged ones, is to believe in Allah and his help, put consistent effort and work hard throughout the year instead of burning midnight oil for a month or two, avoid television and social networking,” said Nazish.
