Sopore: Residents of Warpora, Watlab, Hatlangoo and its adjoining areas in North Kashmir’s Sopore staged a protest demonstration on Saturday against frequent power outages in their respective areas.

Reports said that in order to register their protest against the PDD department, the aggrieved protestors blocked Sopore-Bandipora road, leading to a massive traffic jam on the road.

The protestors shouted anti PDD slogans as they blamed the department for failing to ensure satisfactory electricity in their villages.

The protestors alleged that they are facing electricity shortage from many days due to  the inaction of authorities to repair the technical fault in Watlab receiving station.

“The department is aware about the fault that has developed in the receiving station but the concerned officials are yet to take any measure to repair the same,” said a protestor.

Officials in PDD department told ‘Kashmir Images’ that due to technical issues at Receiving Station Watlab, the villages are facing shortage of electricity.

They added that a technical team has been deputed to repair the fault and the villagers will be getting electricity very soon, as per the schedule.
