Pr Secy reviews Agriculture, Horticulture, allied sector schemes in Reasi

Reasi: Principal Secretary, Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Department, Navin Kumar Choudhary, today conducted a detailed review meeting of Agriculture, Horticulture and allied sectors to assess progress on various Centrally Sponsored Schemes and other flagship programmes being implemented in Reasi district.

District Development Commissioner, Reasi, S Charandeep Singh, Director Horticulture Jammu Ram Savak, Director Command Area Development S. R.S Tara, Director Agriculture Jammu, Director Horticulture Planning and Marketing, Director Sheep Husbandry, Joint Director Fisheries along with district officers were present in the meeting.

Principal Secretary directed the Agriculture Department to ensure coverage of all eligible beneficiaries under PM Kissan Samman Nidhi Yojna, KCC besides formulation of Farmers Producer Organizations. He instructed them to identify farmers in the age group of 18-40 years for registration under PM Kissan Maan Dhan Yojana. He also directed to cover more and more areas under vegetables and spices to make the Reasi district self-sufficient in vegetable production.

He directed Chief Horticulture Officer Reasi to cover more and more area under fruit plantation so as to uplift the socio- economic status of farming community.

During the meeting, District Development Commissioner informed regarding disbursement of crop loss compensation to the affected farmers due to the recent hailstorm.

Later, Principal Secretary inaugurated the Horticulture Facilitation Centre at the Government fruit plant nursery Dagozibagh.

On the occasion, Director Horticulture Jammu briefed the Principal Secretary about the successful functioning of facilitation centers working across the division.

Meanwhile, Principal Secretary also distributed keys of tractors among the beneficiaries of the district.
