Srinagar : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Saturday arrested two more accused persons involved in militant acts in the erstwhile state.

The two people arrested include Ishfaq Ahmed Wani, resident of Srinagar and Umar Bhat resident of Sopore.

“The case relates to conspiracy for undertaking violent militant acts in J&K and other major cities by cadres of Laskhar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), Al Badr and their affiliates such as the Resistance Front (TRF), and People Against Fascist Forces (PAFF),” an official statement of NIA reads.

NIA had registered the case as RC 29/2021/NIA/DLI) dated 10 October 2021 and initiated the investigation.

“Till now 25 accused persons have been arrested in this case by NIA.,” it said.

NIA said that the preliminary investigation has revealed that arrested accused persons are militant associates/OGWs of various proscribed terrorist organisations and have been providing logistical and material support to the ultras.
