Speaking on the occasion, Ajaz-ul-Haque, Producer EMRC recalled various facets of Akhter Rasool’s personal and professional life. “Akthar was not a designer, he was a design whose life had all the essential elements including grace, talent, creativity and good conduct,” he said, adding that Akther would think artistically and was “poetry in himself.”

Akthar’s long-time friend Rashid Maqbool also spoke on the occasion and threw light on different aspects and virtues that made Akther Rasool an institution in himself.

“This is a moment of inconsolable grief for all of us,” he said.

Recalling the professional life of Akther Rasool, Dr Salima Jan said Akther gained a lot of recognition due to his talent and capability to perform in most arduous situations. “He was recognised for his creative pursuits within and beyond the University of Kashmir. He was a master designer who was known for his professional competence and personal grace,” she said, expressing her heartfelt condolences with the bereaved family on behalf of the EMRC family.

Senior MERC faculty members including Dr Sabeha Mufti, Dr Syeda Afshana also spoke on the occasion and paid rich tributes to Akther Rasool.

The condolence meeting, among others, was attended by faculty members, students and scholars of MERC besides the staff of EMRC.
