Srinagar: Kifayat Hussain Rizvi, Honorary General Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu & Kashmir on Monday reviewed the preparations for the celebration of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day (NVBDD)-2021.

Rizvi held the review meeting with the officials of NGOs Coordination Committee which was attended by Syed Hanief Balki, In-charge Honorary Secretary, IRCS Kashmir Regional Branch (Additional Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar).

During the meeting, it was decided that IRCS J&K shall celebrate the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day 2021 by way of organizing a seminar and holding of a blood donation camp wherein an expected number of 100 donors shall donate blood voluntarily. The function shall be held at the Red Cross premises at its Srinagar Headquarters.

Every year, on 1 October, National Voluntary Blood Donation Day is observed in India since 1975 to encourage healthy people to donate blood voluntarily. This day also seeks to banish misconceptions related to blood donation and increasing the self-esteem of voluntary blood donors by way of thanking them for their work.

Indian Red Cross Society, J&K has remained at the forefront in mobilizing the voluntary blood donors during the recent pandemic outbreak so that the hospitals do not face shortage of blood.
