Four persons among six of nomad family found dead after cloudburst in Rafiabad

Baramulla: Four persons among six of a nomad family from Rajouri were killed, while one person was found alive and the other is still missing who too is believed to have died after a massive cloudburst hit Kafarnar Bahak in the upper reaches of Rafiabad in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Sunday.
Deputy Inspector General of Police north Kashmir Range, Sujit Kumar, informed that in a tragic incident, four persons belonging to a nomad family of Haji Bashir Ahmad Khari of Rajouri were killed after a massive cloudburst washed them away at Kafarnar Bahak Rafiabad.
He added that there were six members, four bodies have been found so far. The missing person, Haji Bashir Ahmad Khari (80) S/o Chandi Khari, is also feared dead. Meanwhile, one person namely Mohammad Farooq Khari S/o Haji Bashir Ahmad Khari was found alive.
Those found dead were identified as  Tariq Ahmad Khari (8) S/o Mohammad Farooq Khari, Shahnaza Begum (30) W/o Mohammad Farooq Khari, Nazia Akhtar (14) Daughter of Mohammad Farooq Khari, Arif Hussain (5) S/o Mohammad Farooq Khari. All residents of Nowshera Rajouri.
Rescue teams are searching for the missing person, who is feared to be buried under the debris.
The cloud burst triggered flash floods which submerged the playfield and several government buildings and school buildings at Watergam Rafiabad, locals said.
The officials present on the spot include SDPO Rafiabad, Nisaar Ahmad Darzi, SHO Dangiwacha Imtiyaz Ahmad and Tehsildar Dangiwacha Sajad Hussain. “The area is very remote, and mobile connectivity is weak,” the officials said.
