He said that the fruit-growers have been bearing the brunt of untimely rainfalls and windstorm in Valley since past several years and that the recent windstorms have dashed the hopes of the harvest for the orchardists. He maintained that the south Kashmir have become the worst sufferers of this natural calamity.

He urged  the government to take immediate measures to compensate the losses suffered by the people and  demanded that expert team be deputed to south Kashmir to assess the losses caused by the windstorm to residential houses and orchards at the earliest.

Saying that Crop Insurance Scheme is the only buffer for the farmers and growers at the times of natural calamities, Malik urged the government to implement crop insurance without any delay.
