Farooq Khan reviews functioning of SC/ST/OBC Development Corporation

Srinagar: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan today chaired a meeting to review the functioning of Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/Other Backward Classes (SC/ST/OBC) Development Corporation and progress achieved on the implementation of  several ongoing schemes of the corporation at Civil Secretariat here.

The meeting was attended by Managing Director, SC, ST, OBC Development Corporation, Mohammad Saleem; OSD to Advisor, Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, General Manager, General Manager Recoveries, Deputy General Manager and other officials of the corporation.

Advisor Farooq Khan, who is also the chairman of the corporation, while speaking during the meeting, said that the prime objective of the corporation is to work for socio-economical and educational upliftment of target groups with an aim to empower them to break away from traditional occupations and depressed social conditions.

He delved upon the officers that the corporation should act as a catalyst to create adequate income-generating activities for underprivileged and target groups.

While reviewing the progress on implementation of several ongoing schemes, Advisor Khan stressed upon the officers to remove all the bottlenecks hindering their smooth implementation on ground so that the benefits of these schemes reach to the last person.

The Advisor further asked the officers to maintain greater coordination with the Apex Corporations of the Central Government like National Scheduled Castes Finance & Development Corporation, National Safai Karamcharis Finance & Development Corporation, National Handicapped Finance & Development Corporation and other related corporations for smooth assistance to the target groups.
