Budgam: The Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday said that the news about the busting of a hideout at Pethzanigam area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district was fake and strict action will be taken against those posting such unconfirmed news.

Since Monday morning news was being circulated on social media handles that one person has been detained and a hideout has also been busted by Budgam police at Pethzanigam area of Beerwah.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the police, however, refuted the claims and said that fake news with regard to a hideout having been busted and OGW arrested by forces in district Budgam is doing rounds on social media.

“The news is refuted by Budgam Police as no such hideout has been busted/person arrested in district Budgam. Strict action under law shall be taken against people posting unconfirmed news on self-styled News Networks.”

When contacted, the house owner also refuted the news which was circulated on social media, saying that there was a normal CASO in the village.

He said that a joint team of security forces search his house normally in which their 10/10 underground storeroom was also searched.

“I request the police authorities to look into the matter as we are in threat since the news was circulated on social media, which created panic in our family as well as in our area,” he said. (KNO)
