Srinagar showing continued decrease in daily new COVID cases since 5th May: DC

Srinagar: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammed Aijaz Asad Tuesday said that district administration is working on a war footing basis to break the chain of transmission of coronavirus infection in district Srinagar.

While giving details, the DC said that from May 01, to May 14, 2021 Srinagar district recorded total 14200 Covid-19 positive cases and 38292 Covid-19 tests were conducted during the same period. “About 11500 patients recovered from the disease while 109 patients died due to Corrona virus in the same time span”, the DC added

The DC further said that after imposing corona curfew on May 2, the highest number of Covid-19 positive cases was seen on May 4 with 1311 positive cases, but since May 5 we have witnessed a continuous decline in number of positive cases with lowest 379 cases today on same or higher testing rates. He said the district administration has worked hard to ensure strict adherence to the Covid-19 protocols to break the chain of coronavirus and save precious human lives.

The DC said that a vaccination drive has also been launched across the district to cover more and more people.

He said that on the directions of Lieutenant Governor, various measures have been taken for infrastructure augmentation to further strengthen the system to fight the war against Covid-19 and in this regard bed and oxygen capacity is being augmented at various health facilities and covid care centers in the district.

He also said that as many as 1350 Covid care beds have been established in the district while various new oxygen plants have been made operational and two more additional oxygen plants each of 1000 lpm capacity are set to be made functional in coming days to further strengthen the oxygen support system.

The DC informed that District Administration Srinagar has started Community Triaging for effective Covid-19 management and in this regard Community Triaging teams are being formed which will help in decentralisation and providing better supervision of Covid-19 management at zone level. He also said that Covid Kits are also being provided to the beneficiaries.

He said the district administration is on its toes and all requisite measures would be taken to defeat the 2nd wave of Covid-19 as the Ist wave was defeated. He also said that peoples cooperation is imperative to beat coronavirus by following Covid-19 appropriate behaviour.
