Srinagar: Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president, Ghulam Ahmad Mir Thursday termed foreign envoys’ visit to Jammu and Kashmir as ‘guided tour’ saying no political party was invited by the government to meet the twenty-four member delegation.

Talking to reporters at the PCC headquarters here, Mir alleged that the government had invited its “own well-wishers” to meet and update envoys about the ground situation of Jammu and Kashmir.

“No political party was invited to meet the foreign envoys; so we can say this was an organized tour. No political leader or any public representative was allowed to meet them as the government had chosen its own well-wishers to meet and update envoys on the ground situation of Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.

PCC chief also threatened to hit roads in case the government does not change its perception on Jammu and Kashmir and stop issuing dictatorial orders like imposition of property tax in the economically frail Union Territory.

Lashing out at the Centre for mulling to impose property tax, Mir said imposing property tax; increase in power and water tariffs, is a conspiracy to make people of Jammu and Kashmir economically dependent.

“I can only say that this is a conspiracy to weaken the already frail economy of Jammu and Kashmir and to make people economically dependent. We will come on roads in protest in case the government won’t stop issuing dictatorial orders,” Mir said.

Mir also termed the attack on the son of the owner of an eatery at Durganag past evening as unfortunate, saying such incidents should not happen in future.

“We condemn in strong words the attack on an innocent man, it’s really unfortunate and we don’t want such incidents to be repeated in future,” he added.
