Ganderbal: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal today convened a meeting of officers to review physical and financial achievements of centrally sponsored schemes and CAPEX during his visit to Ganderbal.

During the interaction with officers, the Director stressed for need of achieving cent percent target both physical and financial under capex and centrally sponsored schemes within the stipulated time.

Chief Agriculture Officer (CAO) Ganderbal, G. M. Dhobi informed the meeting about the progress achieved under various schemes, programmes and projects implemented during current year in the district.

Chowdhary impressed upon the concerned officers that no laxity shall be tolerated over the completion of different works and directed them to double their efforts in achieving the desired results.

Iqbal said while implementation of different schemes, programmes and projects the ultimate consideration that has to be kept in mind is the benefit of farming community. He evolved the need to strengthen the bond between the farmers and department and appreciated the officers and field functionaries of the district for their role in motivating the farming community in adopting new techniques in the field of Agriculture.

Director passed on spot directions to frame a committee in respect of providing training to the farmers within and outside UT so that a better mechanism is adopted and farmers improve their practices and achieve higher quality of crop production.

In order to curb menace of spurious insecticides/fertilizers and providing of quality agriculture products to the farming community of district Ganderbal, Director stressed upon the Chief Agriculture Officer and other officers to intensify the inspection drive so that the farmers and growers are ensured with quality inputs.

Later Director distributed sanction letters of Power Tillers, Motorized vending carts, weeders among the beneficiaries of district Ganderbal.

The meeting was attended by Joint Director Agriculture Extension Mohammad Muzaffer Hurra, Joint Director Apiculture and Mushrooms Farooq Ahmad Shah, Chief Agriculture officer Ganderbal, Planning Officer Directorate of Agriculture Kashmir, representatives of Administrative Section of Directorate and other senior officers of district Ganderbal.
