Several villages in Tangmarg area facing shortage of drinking water

Tangmarg: Leaving several dozen households in tremendous discomfort and trouble, the Jal Shakti department has turned a blind eye to the water shortage to Sheikh Mohalla Qazipora as the locals allege the department for ignoring their repeated reminders and demanded that the issue be addressed with immediate effect.

Reports reaching here said that water supply to the said Mohalla was badly hit since past several days. The concerned department, however, seems unmoved as none of the officials or the field workers have shown up to resolve the issue. “We have been repeatedly asking for restoration of drinking water supply and have also met the concerned officials of the department. But it seems that they are in no mood to move out of their office chambers,” Said Nazir Ahmad, a local resident here.

The Mohalla is suffering the worst water crisis as the pipelines have frozen at several spots and the department field workers vested with the responsibility of restoring the pipeline haven’t come to even check the status, leave aside repairing them, alleged another local.

Appealing the higher ups for their intervention in the matter, the locals have threatened to block the road in case the issue was not resolved with immediate effect. “We will have no other option but to block the roads here if water supply is not restores,” Farooq Ahmad, another local said.
