Mission Director, RUSA visits various institutions, reviews pace of construction activities

SRINAGAR: The Mission Director, RUSA   Ravinder Kumar Bhat, visited New Model Degree College Singpora Pattan and Vilgam Handwara approved under RUSA 2.0 to review the pace/ progress of construction activities of the said institutions.

During the site visit of the college, the Mission Director found that the approach roads to both these colleges are narrow creating difficulties for the visitors to reach the college premises smoothly.

He issued on spot directions for widening of the road for easy and safe movement of pedestrians and vehicles for both these colleges.

The survey/assessment by the executing agency i.e Public Works (R&B) Department Kashmir identified the requirement of the land to the extent of 10.5 marlas and 6.76 kanals respectively.

Accordingly, Letter of Intent (LoI) for acquisition of land was prepared and submitted to the concerned Deputy Commissioners with the request to initiate the process for allotment of the requisite land in favour of the New Model College Singpora Pattan and Vilgam Handwara for widening of the road.

The Mission Director also visited Government Degree College Kangan, Islamia College of Science and Commerce, Srinagar,  Degree College for Women Nawakadal, Srinagar  and GDC Handwara approved under RUSA to review the pace/ progress of construction activities of the said institutions.

During the site visit of these colleges, the Mission Director has observed that some works are going on at snail’s pace. He directed the executing Agencies to speed up the pace of work and complete the pending works as per approved specifications by or before 31st of December, 2020.

He also instructed them to submit Utilization Certificates, physical/financial progress reports and Project Completion Certificate(s) along with photographic evidence at the earliest possible.

The Mission Director during the visit was accompanied by the Engineering Wing of RUSA office, Srinagar besides other concerned officers and officials.
