Former Physical Education Director Manjit Bir Singh passed away

Baramulla: Former Director Physical Education Government College Baramulla and Chairman Sikh Civil Society North Kashmir, Manjit Bir Singh, of Rawar Baramulla, passed away after prolonged illness at SKIMS Soura Srinagar on Sunday morning.

The demise of the ‘people friendly’ teacher and social worker shocked and saddened his students, colleagues, friends and people from a cross section of society in Baramulla as condolences pour in immediately as the news of his demise spread.

Various social, political and trade organizations expressed grief and sorrow on the sad demise of Manjt ji and pall of gloom descended on the entire Baramulla town as the news reached here.

Remembered as a pious soul, a kind hearted teacher who was always helped those in need and would always play a pivotal role in social reforms and betterment of the society, Singh was a strong voice in the Sikh community and has done huge contributions contribution towards the social justice and communal harmony.

Expressing condolences and solidarity, President Varmul College Alumni Association (VCAA), Prof Mohammad Ismail, in his statement said that the Alumni of Government College Baramulla feel shocked to know about the sad demise of Manjeet Beer Singh and express deep condolences.

The statement added that Manjeet Ji was a hard working sports promoter, student friendly, active member of VCAA and a prominent social activist. He served in the College with utmost sense of devotion and dedication.

“His service to the College and the society, and his contribution towards strengthening of Varmul College Alumni Association (VCAA) shall be remembered for a long time. May God grant peace to the departed soul and perseverance to the members of bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss,” said Prof Mohammad Ismail in the statement.

Sikh Civil Society Baramulla and North Kashmir informed that Manjitbir Singh son of Lt Capt Mohan Singh of Rangwar Baramulla passed away in spite of the best efforts of doctors of SKIMS Srinagar

“He was outstanding personality, always well prepared, extremely articulate as well as witty. His wise counsel on policy matters of Sikh civil society will never be forgotten,” the statement said while expressing grief and condolences to the bereaved family.

Traders Federation Baramulla also expressed solidarity and condolences with the family and termed the death of the outstanding teacher who was much loved by all.

Meanwhile, Chairman and Patron Human Aid Society Kashmir Bashir Ahmad Mir and Karamat Qayoom has also expressed his condolences and prayed to Almighty Allah to rest his soul in peace and grant strength to the family to bear the loss.

SNS Kashmir family expressed deep sarrow and grief on the sad demise of the noble soul and expressed sympathites with the berveaed family

Chief Engineer, Flood and Irrigation Kashmir, Iftikar Kakroo, expressed his condolences and shock stating that Baramulla has lost a great son and a real gem. He was a childhood hero before becoming a friend a brother and a mentor.

“A man with innate goodness and kindness veer jee as we fondly called him was almost a  complete person. Good-looking smart and immaculately dressed he was very decent in his demeanor and dignified in conduct,” he wrote in his fb post.

He added that Manjit ji was completely non controversial and regarded with deep respect and honour by people of all shades in Baramulla. He has left a big void that can never be fulfilled.
