Ethical Research, Good Teaching Learning core of Higher Learning Institution: VC SKUAST-J

JAMMU: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu organized a lecture on the topic ‘Good Teaching Learning & Ethical Research Practices’.

Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-Jammu, Professor J.P. Sharma, Chief Guest on the occasion congratulated Dr. Rajinder Peshin, Professor, Division of Agriculture Extension Education for selecting and presenting very pertinent topic for the faculty members of SKUAST-Jammu.

He was of the view that research problems should be selected by keeping in mind the beneficiaries of the research. He also talked about misconduct of research and ethics to be followed by researchers.

Dr. Rajinder Peshin, while delivering his lecture methodically elaborated different aspects and guiding principles involved in good teaching practices and substantiated with relevant empirical studies. He talked of researchers’ obligations, responsibilities of advisor and advisee, research and publication ethics, policy issues related to effective teaching, role of nationally and locally recognized professors in higher education as well as in the regulation and framing of teaching rules and guidelines. Dr Peshin, also talked of institutional responsibilities in spelling out the expectations of advisors, mentors, advisees and mentees while framing research guidelines and ethics. He elaborated about the research misconducts like fabrication, falsification and plagiarism as well as questionable research practices in detailed manner. He said that Professors are good leaders in providing ideas, insight and the best strategies to educators who are passionate for effective teaching in the higher education.

Earlier, Prof. Jag Paul Sharma, Associate Director Research, SKUAST-Jammu gave detailed presentation about  the ways and means for ‘Modernization of University Farm’ as ‘farm’ is the face of any agriculture University.

All the statutory officers of the University, Deans, HoD’s and faculty members of Agriculture, Veterinary Science and Basic Science attended the lecture. Prof. Rajesh Katoch, Dean Student Welfare, SKUAST-Jammu conducted the proceedings and presented vote of thanks.
