Srinagar, Nov 11: Police in Kulgam on Wednesday claimed to have solved a murder case and arrested the accused person involved in it.
Sharing details, a police spokesman said that on November 10, Police Station Kulgam received information through “reliable sources” that a woman Mehmooda, wife of Muzaffer Ahmad Najar, resident of Shurat, has been assaulted at her native village and was shifted to District Hospital Kulgam for treatment.
A police party headed by DySP Hqrs and SHO Kulgam rushed to District Hospital Kulgam where officers were informed that the woman was brought dead to the hospital.
A Special Investigating Team (SIT) was constituted and a case (FIR No. 203/2020) under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Kulgam and investigation initiated.
While the deceased woman’s body was handed over to her family after medico-legal formalities, spokesman said investigating officers rushed to the scene of crime and seized the weapon of offence and arrested one Ishfaq Manzoor Bohru, son of Manzoor Ahmad Bohru of Shurat Kulgam on murder charges.
Further investigation into the matter is going on, spokesman said.
