Prof G M Shaad commemorated in Anantnag

Anantnag: Maraaz Adbee Sangam, J&K Academy of Art Culture and languages and Government Degree College for Women Anantnag commemorated the great scholar, poet, historian, critic and researcher Professor G M Shaad on his third death anniversary at Anantnag.

Professor Shaad was proficient in Urdu, Kashmiri, English and Persian. The participants remembered Professor Shaad for his contribution as a translator.

“He wrote more than 35 books books excluding dozens of unpublished books.  He was a professor of History. His contribution for the promotion and preservation of Kashmiri language has been spread over half a century. Prof Shaad was former General Secretary and Patron of Maraaz and has published good number of volumes Vethu Agur (literary journals of MAS),” said one of the participants.

Anjuman E Shairo Adab Januubi Kashmir introduced Khilat-e-Shaad award and the first award was given to the prominent poet and writer Rafiq Raaz.

The function was presided over by G N Aatash, while Principal of the College Ali Mohd Dar, Rafiq Raaz, Dr. M Shafi Ayaz and Riyaz Anznoo were in the presidium. Dr. Gulzar Ahmad Rather represented J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages.
