Lehar Foundation organizes cultural festival

Srinagar: A Cultural Festival was organized by Lehar Foundation at the Pahalgam Club with the aim of celebrating the rich, multi-ethnic traditions and cultural heritage of the people of Jammu & Kashmir and promoting the ethos of unity in diversity.

A spokesman of the Foundation said the festivities commenced with inauguration of the event by the Chief Guest, Maj Gen Rashim Bali, GOC Victor Force in the presence of various other dignitaries and a large number of people who had gathered to witness the gala event unfold.

The inaugural day of the event showcased performances by Sufi Singers, display of colourful folk dance forms by Kashmiri, Dogri, Gojri artists and much more.

Towards the end of the session Maj Gen Rashim Bali addressed the gathering by firstly acknowledging the efforts & initiative of Lehar Foundation for organizing such an event for promoting unity and celebrating the idea of democracy.

The General Officer urged the people to come forward and participate wholeheartedly to revive the concept of “Kashmiriyat”, which for centuries had nurtured the diverse yet harmonious and welcoming attitude of the people of the valley. He also urged the people to not fall prey to the divisive and anti-national propaganda being spread by certain inimical elements and move shoulder to shoulder towards peace and a bright future for the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, the spokesman said.
