Bali urges private healthcare providers to invest in JK

JAMMU, APRIL 01: In continuation of its commitment to bringing world-class healthcare to all citizens, Medanta – The Medicity’s Division of Peripheral Vascular and Endovascular Sciences, Gurugram organized a Scientific Interaction Programme here last evening for the medical practitioners across Jammu.

The interactive session was organized as part of Medanta’s continuous efforts to promote medical knowledge which has a direct impact on patients in Association with VSICON 2018 & Department of CTVS Govt Medical College Jammu, Association of Hospital Administration (AHA) and Academy of Hospital Administrations, Jammu.

Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat was chief guest on the occasion.

The well-known Vascular Surgeon, Dr. Rajiv Parakh, Chairman, Peripheral Vascular and Endovascular Sciences at Medanta shared new advancements and innovations in vascular surgery for treating diabetic foot and aneurysms.

Patron AHA Dr VP Gupta, Mission Director, NHM, J&K, Dr Yashpal Sharma, HoD CTVS, SSH, Jammu, Dr Noor Ali, Dr Arvind Kohli, Medical Superintendents of Associated Hospitals and several senior faculty members from Jammu, besides former faculty members were also present on the occasion.

Dr. Parakh highlighted treatment using innovative technology and said that ‘’Vascular surgery can be performed as a technique for removing plaque build- up inside a blocked artery. It can be used for treating conditions which are caused due to the stoppage of blood into any part of the body except the heart. He shared knowledge on new technologies and innovations in vascular surgery with the medical fraternity in vascular surgery. He focused on treatment of varicose veins (enlarged, swollen twisting veins) by laser technology, modalities for treating blood clots by dissolving them, non-invasive treatment for dilated arteries using stents.

In his brief address, the health Minister said that such programmes are very useful for the local doctors which help them in updating their knowledge in advancements in their fields. He urged the doctors to take advantage of the event and utilize the knowledge for best patient care.

He lauded the endeavors of Medanta Group for promoting healthcare and providing specialized OPD services for the patients in Jammu. He urged the group to invest in healthcare sector in Jammu and Kashmir and supplement government efforts in providing quality healthcare to the people of this State. He said Government is keen to promote private sector under PPP mode and all leading health providers of the country are welcome to set up their ventures in Jammu and Kashmir for which the Government will extend them necessary support.

Dr Yashpal Sharma, who is also Executive Director of Academy of Hospital Administrations, Jammu also spoke on the occasion and discussed the health scenario in Jammu and Kashmir. He said in Jammu and Kashmir the majority of population is dependent on the public sector health institutions and there is negligible presence of private sector with the results the patients move outside for availing specialized treatments. He also stressed the need for promoting private sector for supplementing government efforts in providing quality healthcare to the patients at their doorsteps.

The organizers also honored the Minister by presenting him mementoes.
