People in Hillmissiom village of district Budgam are living under constant fear due to the deterioration of electric poles and low lying electric wires here.

Villagers told Kashmir Images that the high tension wires here in Hillmissiom village are in close contact with the rooftops of their houses. “The electric transmission wires are hanging loose and the same can breakdown anytime due to the strong winds,” they said.

At some places, locals have tied the electric wires with the trees. “We had no alternative but to secure the wires by tying these with the trees,” they added.

A student in Hillmissiom village told Kashmir Images that few days before, he had a narrow escape after a decayed electric pole broke down abruptly. “If something untoward happened here due to the deteriorating condition of electric poles, PDD will be held responsible for the same,” he said.

“No effort has been made by the PDD to repair the dangling electric wires and tilted poles,” said a local, Ghulam Mohammad.

“I am living here from last five decades but the condition of the electric poles and wires remained the same throughout my life,” he added.

The official apathy has also proved unfavorable for lone Imam Bargah in the village. “Most of the times our religious place remains without electricity as proper electric poles are nowhere,” Raja Bano, a local said.

When contacted Executive Engineer, PDD Budgam, Nasrullah Jan he said: “To be honest I don’t know anything about this Hillmissiom village for I have assumed this office just a few months before,” Jan said adding that he will look into the matter.
