COVID-19: ‘HUDD evolving mechanism for door-to-door survey in Jammu, Srinagar cities’

JAMMU: Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department (HUDD), Dheeraj Gupta, today chaired a meeting with senior officers of the department with regard to devising an effective mechanism for planning, conduct and supervision of door-to-door survey in Jammu and Srinagar cities to ascertain the spread of COVID-19.

The meeting had threadbare discussion on various issues regarding the pandemic sparked due to Coronavirus with emphasis on the status of resources of Municipalities and Urban Local Bodies along with building up of capacity in terms of material and human resources.

The Principal Secretary, while assessing the safety measures for the manpower on duty during the pandemic, emphasized the need for making available all requisite protection gears for workers and staff deployed on sanitation works. He assured efforts would be made to ensure that all the staff of Municipalities and Urban Local Bodies deployed for carrying out necessary sanitization and cleanliness operations are provided with the insurance facility at the earliest.

Dheeraj Gupta also emphasized on intensifying the fumigation and fogging drives in the entire area and directed the Municipal Committees and Municipal Councils to ensure complete fumigation especially in congested spots to disinfect the entire area falling in the Municipal jurisdiction.

He asked the department to put in their best efforts towards achieving the objective of ensuring cleanliness and sanitization of the areas to contain further spread of the pandemic.

Among others present in the meeting were Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Sushma Chauhan; Director National Health Mission, Bhupinder Kumar; Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation, Avny Lavasa; VC JDA, Babila Rawal; Director Urban Local Bodies Jammu, Veerji Hangloo; Special Secretary HUDD, Mohammad Haroon Malik and Additional Secretary HUDD, Pankaj Sharma.

Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary; Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Gazanffer Ali; Director Urban Local Bodies, Kashmir Riyaz Ahmad Wani and Vice Chairman, LAWDA, Tufail Matto attended the meeting through Video Conferencing.
