JAMMU, MARCH 17: Lieutenant General, Ravendra Pal Singh, General Officer Commander-in-Chief, Western Command, called on Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu at the Raj Bhavan here today.

The Lt. Governor and Army officer discussed various important issues relating to the security management in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Lt Governor stressed on the high importance for maintaining close and effective synergy between the Army and other Security Forces for ensuring a secure environment for the people.

In another meeting, a delegation of inhabitants of Billawar area of Kathua district called on Lieutenant Governor.

The delegation led by Chairpersons of Block Development Councils, Mandli and Baggan, apprised Lt Governor of various developmental issues of their area and also submitted a memorandum of demands which includes opening of Kendriya Vidyalaya  at Tharakalwal or Uchapind, construction of road from Thamnal Gujjar Basti to Doulha Mata via Dehota Jakhnoo, early forest clearance of roads taken under PMGSY, construction of bridge over Bheeni nallah from Riad to Dehota, construction of block complex at  Baggan and opening of Government Degree College at Katli .

The delegation also demanded bifurcation of ration cards and allotment of Ayushman health cards to the deserving people, opening of ration depot and Primary Health Centre at panchayat Dehota, besides exploration of tourism potential areas, creation of Hydraulic Division and Fire Station at Billawar etc.

Giving patient hearing to the delegation, the Lt Governor assured the BDC Chairpersons that all the genuine demands and issues put forth by them would be looked into meticulously for redressal.

Meanwhile, Kashmiri Pandit leader Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo called on Lieutenant Governor.

Chrungoo submitted a memorandum of demands to the Lt Governor which includes practical and realistic implementable action plan for return of migrants to the valley and their settlement in view of their geo-political and fundamental aspirations, holding of delimitation process to give political reservation of five Assembly seats to Hindu-Sikh communities in the valley in Assembly constituencies in the Union Territory of J&K.

He further demanded that a bill envisaging preservation, protection, promotion and management of Hindu temples and shrines in Kashmir be adopted by the UT Government in the immediate future, besides filling up of all remaining posts under PM package, one time compensation to the over aged candidates and many others.

The Lt Governor gave a patient hearing to the issues and demands projected by the leader and assured him to address the genuine issues, and urged him to continue working towards promoting public welfare.
