DDC Budgam for 30% work allotment to SHGs

BUDGAM, MARCH 14: District Development Commissioner, Budgam, Tariq Hussain Ganai, today stressed on the 30 percent work allotment to the Self Help Groups to give fillip to development in the district.

This was said by the DDC while chairing a meeting of officers at Conference Hall Budgam. The meeting among others was attended by SE Hydraulics, GA Beigh, ACD, Nuzhat Qureshi, DIO Tajamul Yousuf, Executive Engineers from PHE, PDD, AD Employment Hafsa Qayoom and officials from concerned departments.

During the meeting, DDC asked the concerned to ensure timely clearance of payment of works executed by the SHGs across the district and instructed the concerned officers to ensure 30 percent work is allotted to the SHG’s under norms in place.

Serious note will be taken, in case any department fails to allot works to the SHGs, DDC added. He also instructed officers to ensure clearance of pending liabilities on war footing and taking up new works for sustained development of the district.

The DDC also stressed on clubbing small works into large ones and instructed that no subletting of works should be allowed to civil contractors by the SHGs.

It is pertinent to mention that 203 works were allotted to SHGs operating in Budgam involving an amount of 17.64 crore during current fiscal.
