Army’s Northern Command chief meets Lt Governor

JAMMU, MARCH 12:  General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C) Northern Command, Lt Gen Y K Joshi met Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu at the Raj Bhavan here today.

Lt Gen Y K Joshi briefed the Lt Governor about the overall security situation along the International Border, LoC and hinterland and the anti-terrorist operations being conducted by the Army.

The Lieutenant Governor and the Army officer also discussed various important matters relating to the role being played by the Army in safeguarding the territorial integrity and the internal security of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Lieutenant Governor lauded the army for their exemplary devotion in maintaining a constant vigil along the borders and conducting successful anti terrorist operations in co-ordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Armed Police Forces in the hinterland.

Meanwhile a delegation of inhabitants of Palmar, Dachhan, Marwah and Wadwan area of Kishtwar district, led by Chairperson, Block Development Council Palmar, Lalita Devi, called on Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu at the Raj Bhavan here today.

The delegation apprised the Lt Governor of the issues pertaining to the development of backward and far flung area and submitted a memorandum of demands which include establishment of fully equipped Govt Higher Secondary School and PHC at Palmar, construction of  Saflotan canal at Palmar and cremation ground at Bhandarkoot. The delegation also demanded construction of road from Bhandarkoot to Drongdooru, besides construction of Bindraban bridge over river Chenab, linking Kishtwar-Palmar-Dachhan-Marwah blocks.

The Lt Governor interacted with the members of the delegation and assured them to review the genuine issues and demands projected by them for their early redressal.

Meanwhile, senior political leader. Manzoor Ahmad Khan from Anantnag also met with Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu and demanded early completion of drinking water project in Ranbirpora, Mattan.

While interacting, the Lt. Governor assured Khan to look into the issue raised by him as clean drinking water for all is high on the agenda of the government. He urged Khan to continue working towards the advancement of public welfare.
