SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Bank on Friday inaugurated a Premium Branch at Barzulla in Srinagar and an extension counter at the Police Control Room (PCR), aimed at expanding specialised banking services and improving access for police personnel.
The Premium Branch was inaugurated by the bank’s Managing Director and CEO, Amitava Chatterjee, while the extension counter at PCR was inaugurated virtually. Senior bank officials, including General Manager and Divisional Head (Kashmir) Arshad Qadri, General Manager (BSD) Khursheed Muzaffar and Zonal Head (Srinagar) Sheikh Mohammad Muzaffar, were present on the occasion.
The Barzulla branch will primarily cater to high-net-worth individuals (HNIs), offering personalised banking services with a focus on foreign exchange, non-resident Indian (NRI) services, gold loans and safe custody facilities. It will also provide clients with a single point of contact for their banking requirements.
Chatterjee said the new facility reflected the bank’s commitment to relationship-based banking and personalised services for customers seeking specialised financial solutions.
He said that while digital banking was expanding, physical branches continued to play an important role in providing personal guidance and support to customers.
Announcing the bank’s expansion plans, Chatterjee said it would open more than 60 branches across its operational geographies by the end of 2027, alongside its ongoing digital transformation initiatives.
He also announced that the bank would issue a recruitment notification on Friday, without disclosing further details.
Interacting with employees led by Branch Head Saima Jan, the MD and CEO stressed the importance of courtesy, attentiveness and professionalism in customer service, saying the success of the premium branch would depend on the quality of its interactions with customers.
The extension counter at PCR is intended to provide routine banking services to police personnel at their workplace, making everyday banking transactions more accessible.
