SRINAGAR: Winter conditions have begun setting in across Jammu and Kashmir, with temperatures remaining low in several parts of the Valley and morning fog likely to become more frequent. The Meteorological Department has forecast light rain at isolated places and snowfall over higher reaches on Thursday.
Director Meteorological Department Mukhtar Ahmad told Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that another weather system is likely to affect Jammu and Kashmir on November 10 and 11, bringing the possibility of light rain in parts of both divisions and snowfall over higher-altitude areas.
He said weather is expected to remain largely dry from November 6 to 9. Isolated thunderstorms cannot be ruled out during the November 10–11 spell, though no significant weather activity is currently expected.
Ahmad said shallow fog was being witnessed over plains during morning hours and could become more frequent as temperatures fall further, potentially reducing visibility.
He advised farmers to utilise the prevailing dry weather for harvesting, threshing, fresh sowing and other agricultural activities. Commuters were also advised to follow traffic advisories, particularly while travelling through higher reaches and vulnerable road stretches.
